Maybe once James is done thoroughly trashing the Game Pond Lamers, he should get cracking on some of the Port Saiid lamers. I was looking through old topics the other day and I noticed that Revo1ver Ocelot guy deserves a beating. I can't believe an oldschool website would hire someone like that to write for them. They must be desperate for attention. I would do it myself, but I think James is better at it, and it would be better for him to handle it on the site so I don't have to bump all the old topics.

I think I remember that and there's a specific reason why I do. I was off the internet for awhile, but I managed to get back on for just a few moments and I made a post at the Game Pond saying hello to everyone. FO was the only one who replied. A week later I came back and the GD forum was going on and on about how nobody likes them because no one replied to their coddling topic, and I pointed out that FO was the only one who replied to my hello topic, and that if anyone had a reason to believe the board hated them, it would be me. Some people claimed they didn't see the topic until I pointed it out, so I don't know whether it was another Bssteph-style glitch or it was just overlooked or what.I guess I'm 0 for 2 now because I don't remember that either. If the post still exists, I'll happily reply to it now.

Oh man... I would NOT have admitted to that if I was them... I guess getting older doesn't always make people wiser. They didn't admit to it. Someone who I would consider to have been a fairly neutral party told me about it, and I told him I didn't remember seeing that topic. |

Also, I'm almost 90% positive that had a lot more to do with me shutting down the Cameos Database than my writing. I wonder sometimes if suggestion can be a very powerful thing. I had a weird experience at work the other day that made me think about this. Someone came over to me and told me that if I needed boxes, I could go get some from this other guy's room. I said okay, but wondered what made her think I needed boxes. Then the next day, the guy whose room has the boxes came over to me to inform me that I could take boxes from his room any time I want. So, now I'm really wondering why people think I need boxes. Maybe it's a similar thing on the internet. You might wonder why anyone would take TermiteJr seriously, though, and my answer to that is either (1) there's really no rhyme nor reason to it or (2) he had very typical internet opinions, and it's easy for people to side with or believe someone who is likely to have the same opinions as they do. |

Didn't DH once do a "Top Ten Rules of the Game Pond" and one was something like, "If you heard it from TermiteJr, then it must be true", which was a direct reference to that (as well as a Garfield & Friends sketch)?I did, but the fuckers deleted it. That was near the very end when we pulled all the stops and started attacking the place nonstop. There is a version of that list (which doesn't contain the Termitejr line) that still exists, but I don't know if I should bring it up now... |

Even if I had known, I remember being on a message board months before Final Fantasy 8 came out and yet a bunch of people there had FF8 names like "Rinoa" and "Squall" and would talk about it constantly. I never understood how that was possible since the game wasn't released yet. They read about it and saw previews of it in magazines. No big mystery. They could have even imported and played the Japanese version which was out
sooner.
Some of those "admins" were sharing their names and passwords with people from other boards, too. I suppose we have some account sharing going on even now with so many people knowing each other IRL, but at least WE all know them, too. But at the Game Pond there were several times when the admin control center and the private forums had been breached by people from other ezboards like Bugforest's board. I never had admin there. I've mentioned before that it was quite obvious that many of them (particularly the N-Sider chat crowd) were from well-off families. Some of them were extreme right-wing religious nuts, too. I remember at least one person who kept calling Al Gore a "baby-killer" because of the abortion issue. |

If I had no prior experience with the Game Pond and was someone who just now stumbled into it, I would still end up hating it. I know this doesn't really
need to be said, but I'll stress again that it has nothing to do with anyone here, but when I get into those topics that are full of GD people who
don't come around anymore, I want to cap almost every single one of them in the head.
There was one line in particular about how we'd be "Entering a New Age" when Bush became president that made me want to hit the ceiling. Yeah, a new age of unjust war, skyrocketing gas prices, and a fucked-up economy. Thanks a lot! |

The 2000 election has a lot to learn from. George W Bush seemed to be running as a moderate Republican, so people whined, "There's no difference
between the two parties!" And people always whine, "My vote doesn't matter!"
Then Bush won Florida by about 500 votes. And I don't know if anyone, looking back, would think that the results of a Gore Presidency would have been only negligibly different than a Bush Presidency. |

Yes, yes, yes, everybody has their own personal "Day the Game Pond Died" for them, but that was the most distinct moment at which the Game Pond
faltered and never recovered from - when Kiera left - and that's the incident that caused her to leave. It's like when a person has a stroke and goes
into a coma and never recovers from it. Technically, he's still alive, but it's not the same as "living".
Also, that event was the main focus of the "The Day the Game Pond Died" song that we parodied off of "The Day the Music Died". |
