Had he been playing Halo 3 instead of Call of Duty 4, this never would have happened!

Holy crap, that is messed up. Why did the father help him pack and why didn't he just run away to a friend's house like kids usually do?
I looked up more information on this. It appears he died from a fall from a tree. That's something that could happen even if you aren't running away from home. |

That's what makes no sense about that story to me: He's mad enough at his parents to run away, yet not so much that they're able to work on packing
up his bags together? Huh? And why was he climbing a tree?

It doesn't sound like he was very bright. That's probably why his grades were failing.

Sometime when I was maybe in my early 20's, I went through my baby book and saw some of my gradeschool report cards. If you looked at them like an
"adult", they made no sense. My grades wildly fluctuated between A's and F's (even for a single subject, like math). I think the answer,
though, is that I am curious and enjoy learning things, so if I have fun, I'm motivated and perform well, and if I don't have fun, I don't.
I think that really showed up in highschool. Freshman year, I had an old-school teacher who made us write "five paragraph essays" with no accepted variance in or critique of the style, he'd assign topics I had nothing to say about, he tested reading knowledge by making us quote-mine to answer very specific questions that only a single sentence in an entire book would answer, and the essays were often things that we discussed to death in class (ie., the theme of Shane is, "You can't escape your past".) I think from his perspective, that was supposed to make the class easier. We supposedly knew what he wanted us to say, we just had to say it. And that class might have been beneficial to people who had trouble reading literature and finding something to say about it afterwards. I found it stifling. I also got a C. In senior year, we covered literature that I really enjoyed (like 1984). We had a lot of work to do: we had to write a long "senior paper". But we were able to pick our own topics, so I was able to pick something that interested me. And I got an A. (Actually, I got a 4.0 senior year) So, anyway, I just don't trust that grades correlate to intelligence. |

Another thing is that we all do stupid things when we're kids and there aren't always rational explanations for it. Like BJ said, he could have just been climbing a tree even if he hadn't run away first and had that happen, and climbing trees is something boys do. |

i find it very hard to have an opinion on something which may not exist. somebody needs to blame lizzy for holy crusades (or some with nazis in it) before i
give a damn.

I think he's saying Lizeth Marry doesn't exist, but even if there really is no one by that name, SOMEBODY had to have deleted FO's posts, banned
her, and sent her that email, and we have to put SOME name to him, so...

I edited out my own posts, although it was pointed out to me that someone edited "deleted by moderator request" into them whereas I just reduced them
all down to a period. Maybe that's an automated message?
And I still think he did the same thing that Cameos contributor used to do - he sent it with his mother's email and didn't realize that her name is what showed up on the sent by line. |

And I still think he did the same thing that Cameos contributor used to do - he sent it with his mother's email and didn't realize that her name is what showed up on the sent by line.Man, I had something weird like this happen to me yesterday. I set up a new FlyingOmelette.com email address with my name on it for emailing people I know IRL, like my ex-coworkers. I got an email at my fo@flyingomelette.com address from someone wanting a link exchange. I replied back, but for whatever reason, his reply to my reply came back to the new address I just set up instead of the fo address. I checked the header and sure enough, the webmail system sent it out under the new address, and I don't know how that's possible. |

I thought at one point, you had it set up so non-existent addresses would be redirected to a particular address? (Probably the "fo" one). Maybe you
accidentally set it so they'd go to the new account? Then to explain the other thing, maybe the guy who emailed you made a typo in the address.
I guess that's unlikely, since it's requires two coincidences. "Of the three ways in which men think that they acquire a knowledge of things--authority, reasoning, and experience--only the last is effective and able to bring peace to the intellect." -Roger Bacon |

No, the email was actually sent under the new address. I replied to it from the fo address, but when his reply came
back, it was in the inbox for the new address, and the history information said it went to him under the new address.

I edited out my own posts, although it was pointed out to me that someone edited "deleted by moderator request" into them whereas I just reduced them all down to a period. Maybe that's an automated message? There's something very, very strange about that board. I normally don't venture into outside forums (no interest, lack of time, yadda, etc.) but after all the discussion of this one here, I clicked on a link to it from some post I can't find now and all I got was a blank screen. Tried reloading 2 more times and finally it said something like, "Your account has been deleted. Please contact admin for reactivation." What the hell? I hadn't even registered an account yet! And what kind of message board has an error message that sounds vaguely like those scam/spam emails I sometimes get? |
