I thought I was the only one who knew about Anthony R. Womble.
It also reminds me of Crawl's "Reader Review" for Lunar: Lunar: Silver Star Story CompleteAlso, Super Mario Bros. 3 |

I just realized something about the Lizeth Marry reviews page:
http://deathamster.flying...e.com/reviews/lizeth.html You need to change the title bar. It still says "NES Capsule Reviews by Kiera". You certainly don't want to confuse people into thinking Kiera was anything like that pedo. |

Thanks for pointing out that error, FO. I can't fix it from this location, but if you or one of the other admins doesn't get to it first, I'll
fix it later tonight.

Gimme a break, James. We're just different writers. Those reviews are funny as hell. I actually do read them in a voice more similar to Anthony R. Womble
than to your own, so you're better at it than you think.
I hope no one gets offended by this, but I actually find it easier to write in your voices than in my own characters' voices. The main reason why is because I've been reading your posts for many years now and have a good idea of how you talk, act, and think. But my characters are a blank slate until I fill them in with something. Also, I probably shouldn't confess this, but I do read a few of my characters in the same voices that I read a few people on the forums. I used something very specific to write the young Preston in the "Annelidical Psychiatry" sketch. |

I thought there was more Anthony R. Womble stuff on that site because I remember something about how his teacher assigned him homework instead of discussing Final Fantasy 7 with him and he didn't do the homework.

Why can't there be more Kiera Lordenses in the world and fewer Lizeth Marrys?

Because Kiera was a mature, intelligent adult. Most people on the internet are stupid little kids and teenagers or mentally retarded/ill adults.

I knew I had heard something similar to that somewhere, but couldn't remember where, and assumed it was in a message board post I'd never be able to find. |

I couldn't have done the jokes with the homosexual overtones while I was still under the watchful eyes of my parents, though. I'm not sure I would've been able to do them anyway because I didn't know much about gender traits and stereotypes back then. |

Yeah, but at least you added that line about getting the sub because the dub sucks. You know, another thing I had in mind (maybe even moreso than Crawl or FryingBear) were the anime topics at the Game Pond. I slogged through several of those while putting together Memory Lane and Citizen James and some of them were just so, so awful, I felt like I needed a long cold shower afterwards. It's not so much nitpicking individuals at the Game Pond. The truly nauseating thing is knowing that's the way a lot of anime fans are. |

Flying Omelette |

Well, at the risk of playing devil's advocate, I don't think most people at the Game Pond were really that bad about their anime love. I
recently read through a topic there again on that subject, and while there are definitely things I don't agree with, it's not like everyone in the
topic was a complete "everything anime rules, everything else sucks" nutcase. The topic was mostly dominated by Deathspork saying he hated Ronin
Warriors but liked DBZ, and Liontamer arguing the opposite, but there wasn't really anything wrong with the conversation, and in fact, I was kind of
impressed because it's rare to see opposing viewpoints on a forum not degrade into immature flame wars.
One thing I could argue against, though, was the way some people were always complaining that anime didn't have enough exposure in America. I dunno. I guess it depends on what specific anime they're looking for. Speed Racer, Voltron, Ninja Science Team Gatchaman, and Robotech all enjoyed success in the 70s and 80s, and Dragon Ball Z, Pokemon, Tenchi Muyo, Gundam Wing, and Sailor Moon were all really popular during the Game Pond's time. Sci-Fi channel was known for showing anime movies sometimes, and even more obscure stuff like Samurai Pizza Cats had followings. I know what people are probably REALLY thinking of are things that are more difficult to show on American television, but I don't, in any way, think that popular anime misrepresents it in general. It's brought here because that IS what's popular there. |

Almost all of those anime shows are aimed at kids. I think what people were talking about were the anime shows that are more aimed at teenagers and adults.
I know Kiera used to say stuff like that, but she changed her mind when Cartoon Network censored Tenchi.
Edit - On a side note, I'm not sure how often FO looks at our site's stats or how often the other staffers download them, but has anyone else but me noticed a huge jump in the amount of hits we're getting lately? And that Lizeth Marry review page is on top. Usually the #1 spot wobbles between James's Game Ideas page and that Funny Answering Machine article.

Hopefully Google will recrawl that page soon and fix the title.
I wonder if a "Lizeth Marry" is something like a "Mary Sue" in the sense that it has a specific internet meaning, but I can't find anything else on it. |
