Uh, has the XKCD guy been reading this thread? i still find DRM music albums in stores some of the time. and xkcd can still fight against other protection software/spyware for computer games, even though he probably only plays flash versions of tower defence. damn poseurs. |

The thing that annoys me about those "Switch to OGGs/PNGs/Geocities/etc." type people is that they seem to have an air of pretentiousness about their
arguments, like by doing so, you're going "against the grain, being UNIQUE! (as FO put it earlier), but in reality, they're just asking you not to
conform to one standard only to conform to another. In fact, it's actually more conformist to boldly tell someone
what they should use than it is for the person to make their own choice.
As for more Game Pond-bashing, one thing that annoyed me (and I may have been guilty of it somewhat myself, but when I saw it in other people, I again worked to improve) is that they often projected criticism of something they like onto themselves. I was a Sailor Moon fan back then (as I've said before), but one time I just barely tried criticizing some things that (even then) I didn't like about the show, and I got met with, "YOU THINK I'M STUPID FOR LIKING SAILOR MOON!!!" Jesus Christ, dude! I just said I liked the show, too. |

The only thing I can possibly think that might sort of apply to would be the IE vs. Firefox (or other browsers, like Opera) argument - because people don't
want everyone using Microsoft products and would prefer they give some independants a chance. But even then, I believe it's more a fuming hatred of
Microsoft's monopoly than it is about being unique - it's not really the same thing as someone on a message board defending a cartoon that's not
well-liked for the hell of it.

Someone back then accused me and DH of making up Mercury Crusader as a "sock puppet" account to say things we would be "too afraid" to say under our real accounts.This one time I pranked the Bugforest board and I had this thing back then that would spoof your IP number. After I left for the night and drove back to work the next morning and checked the place, someone had apparently bombed the board pretty badly overnight and there was this post that said something like, "The board flooder is Devilrays! And he is also Deathamster, Deathspork, and Psykosuma!!" I guess all those other people were using the same IP spoofer, but I was floored laughing hysterically at that. The board flooder is your father, and he's been drinking!!! ~ Remember: FIRST you pillage, THEN

Older internet setups let you actually type an IP number in. I could do that on my Acer with RCN.
