I guess that "alienation" complaint was almost guaranteed to happen eventually because *I've* gotten it and my site isn't quite as community-focused. And I agree that there are things that are funnier if you were there at the time they happened, and some things may not be funny at all to those who weren't...but still, I don't know how anyone could read through the entire site and not find at least one or two things to laugh at. The game ideas alone have a lot of great stuff, and with the exception of the ones that involve us as characters in the games, they don't need the context of the forums.
Also, this site is MUCH better than almost any other community-based site I've seen, and although some bias is unavoidable, I really am not just saying that because it's ours. Other community sites I've seen usually just give a few random facts about people in the community and what they're doing, which can be useful and informative, but not particularly entertaining. And then there are those NES Scene sites that were created to trash other NES Scene sites and people in the NES Scene. Sure, we had DBDH Arena, but at least that's actually funny. Even if you never saw them, trust me when I say those NES Scene sites weren't (with two notable exceptions - one is Lisker's NES parody site and the other you'll have to email me if you want to know what it was.)
As for "elitist"...Well, Josh Becker said he's proud of being a "film snob".
