On a related note, I can't get over how much people in this topic were acting like the idea of ordering a pizza online instead of by phone was such a stupid idea. DH and I do it all the time now. I can't even remember the last time we ordered a pizza by phone. It's so much more convenient online.

It's the same for me and Crawl. We always get Papa John's and order it through their website.

I have this same exact problem, too. I HATE the way I sound on our answering machine (but Crawl refuses to record the message). I've noticed that other people at work often don't sound the same over the PA system either, though. I remember just a few weeks ago my co-worked in the office next to me paged somebody and after she hung up, I said, "If I didn't know that was you, I wouldn't have guessed it was you. That didn't sound anything like you."

I don't think we have any pizza places nearby enough that do online ordering. I don't mind calling, except that sometimes I'm not sure what info they want first if they don't ask. I like when they just go down the list: Is this delivery? What address? What would you like? instead of just answering the phone and saying hello.

Yeah, I just thought it was amusing how several years ago some people were very skeptical of the whole idea. Now, I'd hate to be without it. Less chance of them screwing up your order if you can just choose from an online menu and no need for clipping coupons if they have online specials.

Ordering pizza online is extremely convenient. Absolutely every pizza place should allow it. However, around here, pretty much only Papa Johns does.

Even Papa Johns doesn't do it perfectly. They do have online 'coupons' (really just special deals). But if you want to take advantage of your local store's deal (eg., ours has Two-for-one Tuesday), you still need to call.

That's the way it usually is for me, too. It's better to call in an order because there might be specials that aren't listed on the website. I guess they don't want to pay a webmaster to keep updating with those things on a daily basis.

We still don't really have any way to order pizza online. Pizza Hut is the only one who does it and last time I ate it, I thought it was overpriced and disgusting. I do think that the concept is fine and look forward to it being more available. There are limits, though.

Yeah, I hate that to. They say, "Hello, Papa Johns?" Okay, now what am I supposed to say? I usually say, "Hello, I'd like to place a delivery order."

Taco Bell is even worse. Now they force their staff to say, "Hello, how are you today?" It's like, what, are we supposed to have a conversation? Are you ready to take my order?

The very first time I tried ordering a pizza online they screwed it up. I asked for mushrooms on one half and pepperoni on the other. I got half mushrooms and half plain cheese. The deliveryman left before I could say anything so we just ate it that way.

We got a messed-up order from online once. We had to call them back to have it exchanged because it had pork on it, which neither of us eat.

I just ordered my first pizza from Pizza Hut. What a terrifying world this is. Their pan pizza was vile but there was an online coupon for a specialty pizza so I got a hand tossed Pepperoni Lover's.

I wish you could pay by credit card right on the web site. It says you'd have to present it to the delivery guy. That sounds like a lot of hassle so I'm paying cash. I have just barely enough on hand. He's getting some 1's and some gold dollars.

It's a little better than the last time but no better than any frozen pizza. When you figure in the delivery charge, tax, tip, it's a ripoff. For five bucks more (which I unfortunately didn't have on me and didn't want to go out for) I could have gotten a great pizza from a local place.

I like Pizza Hut's Pizza Mia, but before they introduced that, Crawl and I hadn't gotten Pizza Hut in a long time because whatever it was we used to get before I ended up not being able to stomach.

The only thing is, the commercial for it, where people were served it in a classy Italian restaurant, was ridiculous. No reasonable person should be able to be fooled by that. Number one, no matter how good it tastes, mac and bacon is not classy food. Number 2, just to look at it, you can see it's homogeneous, a bunch of noddles coated evenly with a uniform sauce. That's not what real Italian food looks like.

There's one local pizza place in town that sells salads, too. But, though they've been promising it for a while, they still don't have online ordering.

It's be nice to be able to get something at least vaguely healthy when you're also ordering a pizza.

I'm so oldschool. I still order by phone and haven't even considering trying to order online yet. However, the place we like the most is a local shop so it probably doesn't even have online ordering. Not even sure if they have a website, though it seems everyone else does. I always check our pizza before the deliveryperson leaves, too. I've gotten a few orders with mistakes in the past, so it's a good habit to get into.

Okay, I'm not ordering from Pizza Hut online again. I tried to get a couple of the smaller size pastas from the site (they're listed as side dishes but we wanted to see how they were before buying 2 pounds worth) and checked out, but then it said the order didn't transmit and I had to call the order in. T

The guy who answered the phone was pretty rude (mostly in a tone of voice sort of way) and said they don't sell them in the smaller sizes. I told him he could go ahead and cancel the order, in that case. And he had to be literal about it and say "There's nothing to cancel since you didn't even place an order."
