But I've seen and heard every excuse from one end of the internet to the other and if you scrape it all away down to it's bare elements, it all amounts to one thing - Message boards are run by people who do not have the intelligence and maturity to deal with the amount of power over people that being an admin grants them. I almost think you need that type of personality to want to run a message board. I've said this before, but I would have been content to be just a normal community member forever, but when things went out of control after the Game Pond sunk, someone had to step up and take the helm. www.flyingomelette.com

I hate introduction topics. I made one when I first went to the Game Pond but I was younger then and it was a fairly informal community. But if I wanted to make a reply to something I saw on a random message board I wouldn't do it if the rules say you have to make an introduction topic first. I also hate replying to them because when others make them because it always feels awkward though sometimes I'll do it to be nice, you know. I remember the reason i went to the Game Pond was because I was searching ezboard for video game forums. couldn't find too many that were active and weren't full of people bashing each other because LOL, I like psx and u like N64 and you suck, and vice versa, too. But I ended up at the help forums and was impressed with how maturely Kiera handled a bunch of lamers who were picking on her the whole time she was trying to conduct a conversation with the ezboard staff, and when I found out she had a videogame board I thought I'd try it. I admit I was slightly appalled that ezboard didn't do something about those posters as it really looked unprofessional of them. I found out later that the person organizing the personal attacks on her was some "important" bigwig who had a large board that they favored, yadda yadda, so they let him do whatever he wanted, basically running around and acting like the "spoiled boss's kid" from some 80's sitcom. This topic would indicate to me that videogame message board admins haven't really changed since then.

That is not the basis; he did not start there and extrapolate outwards. If you were to see him really talk about the issue as he cares about it... Well, FO has said that he acts like he views a videogame as something like a bicycle. It's a mechanical thing, so do the pieces work, is it efficient, etc.? He, by himself, by his own nature, does not naturally view things as art. He probably has a bit of an info-whore personality. The article where he calls people "fags" for caring about stuff is closer to his true nature, and is obviously totally devoid of any intellectual pretention. But BECAUSE he personally can't view things as art, he tries to read his own viewpoint into other things. Again, strip away all the doublespeak and philosophical pretention and take it down to its bare roots, and you've got nothing more than your typical NES Scenester. I momentarily forgot I was banned from that forum and I clicked on the link in that blog, and it seems I'm not banned anymore.. Well, one good thing came out of this - I've been reaffirmed in my belief that Scottish folds are ugly as hell. If you want to use a kitty avatar, by all means do. But don't use Scottish folds.
