encouraging info-whore mentality on the internet.

It sounds to me like info-whores would have a difficult time deciding for themselves if they like a movie or not because they take everything too seriously or
at face value and they need some other determining factor. For instance, they don't "get" comedy because they have no real sense of humor, but if
enough sources of authority say a movie is funny, they'll agree that it is.

That was Nintendo Power's response and it was said to people writing in to them to tell them that Sega was better because they were selling better. Now
I'm being rather pedantic by saying that, but it's not like it came from the mouth of Nintendo's president (Minoru Arakawa at the time) or Shigeru
Miyamoto, and I thought I might clarify who they were saying that to. It's not like they were just shouting it out for no reason.

Ah, yes, the old "it's better because it sells more" mentality. That's been around forever. I remember when Sega was briefly outselling
Nintendo and their response was, "Just because something sold a lot, that doesn't mean it's great. Milli Vanilli and Vanilla Ice proved
that."

I was gonna do a post sarcastically demonstrating which things are objectively superior to other things (based on which made more more or sold more), but I
lost interest in looking up the numbers pretty fast.

It is kind of funny, though, that Creed's Human Clay and Vanilla Ice's To the Extreme are both 11x platinum and thus both out-sold Nirvana's
Nevermind (10x platinum), yet the latter seemed like a big news story and other formers did not.

Older movies had terrible, terrible trailers, even when they were great movies (like 12 Angry Men and Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory). New movies
trailers make them all look alike, except when something is so obviously bad that even a slick trailer can't make it look good.
